Setting up a Personal Hotspot (iOS)

A Personal Hotspot lets you share the cellular data connection of your iPhone when your RateIt device could not connect to your business' WiFi. This hotspot is just a temporary connection so that the RateIt Support Team can unlock the app for you and you can re-connect to the store's/location's WiFi or enable Cellular Data from there.

Please note that the hotspot name and password should be configured to the below details and they are case sensitive(All lowercase). The RateIt device is initially configured to automatically recognise the network below:

Hotspot Name: rateit
Password: rateit123

Step 1: Setting up the Hotspot name to 'rateit'

  1. On your iOS device, go to Settings > General > About.
  2. Tap the first line, which shows the name of your device.
  3. Rename your device to 'rateit', and then tap Done.
  4. The result should look like the image to the right.

Step 2: Setting up the Hotspot password to 'rateit123'

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular.
  2. Tap Personal Hotspot, and then tap the slider to turn it on.
  3. Tap Wi-Fi Password.
  4. Tap the X on the right side of the Password field to delete the current password.
  5. Enter the password 'rateit123'.
  6. Tap Done in the top right corner.
  7. The result should look like the image to the right.

Step 3: Reboot your RateIt device

Reboot your device to connect to the hotspot. To do this, simply press and hold the power button (the one along the top) and the home button (the main button on the front of the device, towards the bottom) at the same time until the screen turns black.

Important Note: Please make sure that the RateIt Device and the Hotspot are close to each other when rebooting the device to ensure a successful connection.
